Club Competitions
Members are invited to participate in a range of internal club competitions which are a great way to receive constructive critique and also to see what fellow members are capturing.
Facebook Header Competiton
Each month members are invited to submit up to 3 images which are then voted on by the membership. The winning image becomes our Facebook Group Header for the following month.
During the summer images are submitted by email and then added to Facebook for the member vote. During the main season entries are submitted on Photoentry and voted on at the weekly meeting thereafter.
Images must be submitted in a ratio of 16 wide by 9 high to fit the header template.
Section Competitions
The membership is split into three sections and there are 4 section competitions each season. Members may enter up to 3 images per competition. Some are DPI (digital) and others are Print. Some of the section competitions have a theme and others are open meaning you can submit an image on any subject matter.
These competitions are judged by an independent judge often from another local club.
Entries are made using PhotoEntry which requires images to be no larger than 1600px landscape at a 3:2 ratio i.e. 1600 x 1200. The maximum file size allowed is 10MB per image.
Section B – New members and beginners
Section A – Intermediate
Section A1 – Advanced
Points are allocated 1 per entry with additional points allocated for your highest finishing image from 1st place down to Highly Commended.
Each season the 2 people finishing highest in Section B are moved up to Section A and the same for A into A1.
Open Competitions
The remaining Club Competitions are Open giving all members the opportunity to compete against each other. These open competitions are often for a cup or trophy.
The Chairman’s Challenge
An open competition on a theme selected by the Chairman. This year’s challenge is “At the Fair” The winner is chosen by member vote at our pre Christmas meeting.
External Competitons

The 3 way challenge which is a competition between Paignton, Torbay and Newton Abbot.
The Kingsbridge Battle – a 2 way competition between Paignton and Kingsbridge.
Entries are selected by a panel of Club members and points are awarded for each image with the total points from all entries used to decide the winners.
