Our Review Group is chaired by Club Member, Rod Fry, and is a relaxed and informal gathering for members who enjoy exploring photography beyond simply taking pictures. It provides an opportunity to discuss and review images and prints, discover influential photographers, share ideas, and explore a wide range of photographic subjects in a friendly, welcoming environment.
Discussions have covered topics as diverse as photography in the 1960s, Paris, local landscape photography, black and white photography, historical and archival images, and the work of renowned photographers including David Bailey, Daidō Moriyama, Martin Parr, James Ravilious, Shirley Baker and many more.
The aim of the group is to encourage members to explore photography in its broadest sense—international, historical and contemporary. Rather than focusing solely on traditional camera club photography, the Review Group offers a chance to gain a wider appreciation of the art, history and storytelling of photography. It doesn’t replace the club’s competitions and practical activities; instead, it complements them by inspiring fresh ideas, broadening perspectives and encouraging creative development.
The Review Group meets once a month throughout the year at Paignton Constitutional Club, Palace Avenue, Paignton, usually on the third Tuesday of each month. Details are announced on the Club Facebook page and in the member newsletter.
If you would like to find out more, please speak to Rod Fry at a club meeting or get in touch using the Contact Form on this website. New members are always welcome to come along and join the conversation.
